The Community Christian Alternative (CCA) Academy, was founded 38 years ago and is one of the oldest community-based alternative schools in the country. CCA currently educates 200 students, ages 17-21, who have dropped-out of high school or are disconnected from the educational process. CCA’s mission it to prepare its students to become lifelong learners equipped with the intellectual capacity, life skills, practical experiences, and a high school diploma to successfully transition to post-secondary education, employment, and a lifetime of self-empowerment and community engagement. For the past 19 years, CCA has been a campus of the Youth Connection Charter Schools but maintains its independence. CCA offers a unique STEAM urban agriculture/sustainability focus and Restorative Justice practices to buttress the learning experience.
